They say “you can’t get to where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been” and this very thought is the heartbeat of the concept for “Pioneers of Hoosier Motorcycling”. For three days in February 2015 the 24th Annual Indiana Motorcycle Expo, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, will host 6 sessions devoted to connecting modern day motorcycle enthusiasts and professionals with the men and women who “pioneered” the sport and industry we currently enjoy. You will hear, learn and be entertained directly from the people who blazed the trail and helped to usher in the current era of motorcycling.
In a very comfortable and casual setting you’ll enjoy the stories and remembrances of gentlemen who in their younger days were fierce competitors as they raced the hill climbs, race tracks now long forgotten and through the woods of the great Hoosier state. You’ll hear about the very early days of motorcycle clubs and organizations from across the state, learn the story behind the creation of the Motor Maids and learn about the challenges they faced through the decades. Discover how riding and the equipment and its performance have changed through the years. These moderated sessions will be tailored to various topics and themes but will be free flowing as these amazing people re-tell their stories from “back in the day”. Questions from the audience will be welcomed and in fact are encouraged.
Following the sessions everyone is invited back to talk one-on-one with these very Pioneers and view a display of their private collections of memorabilia which will include one of a kind bikes, personal photo collections, trophies, riding apparel and more. Many of these items have never been seen on display before.
