Gary started riding in 1968 at 13 years old on a Honda S90. His first race was in 1972 in Fortville on a Suzuki X6 Hustler. He started racing full time in 1973 on a TM-250 Suzuki ($745 new). He was sponsored in 1976 by Scotts Cycle in Lebanon (O.D. Scott sold his dairy heard to start his motorcycle dealership). He was advanced to “A” class in 1979. He started racing vet class in 1983 and finished 2nd in state in 30+ class in 1984.
Gary took over Knobby Hills Motocross Track in 1987 and ran it for 15 years until 2003.
He was elected AMA congressman in 1990 and has been elected for 22 years by District 15 – Emeratus. He was elected to the AMA Board of Directors 2 years ago.
